Tyson Fury has irritated an old injury that could create issues with his rematch against Wladimir Klitschko.
“I’ve got a back injury, an old injury flared up when I went over to help Hughie out for his fight on Saturday,” Fury said to the mirror.co.uk.
“It’s a lower back injury. I got it years ago, in 2008, I was over in Ingle’s gym in Sheffield and Richard Towers punched me in the back.”
Fury explained that his injury is very uncomfortable and painful. It’s a like a trapped nerve in his back.
Back problems are not too uncommon for taller men, as Tyson is not far off 7ft, this problem may be around for a while.
Also, Tyson has said, with an injury or not, he will be ready once the date is set. “I got taken to hospital and ever since then, every time I get punched in the back, it goes into a spasm, like a trapped nerve.”
“It’s a painful experience, but listen, when they announce the date, I’ll be ready, back injury or not.”
This could be a problem for the big man, should he go into a fight with Wladimir Klitschko with an injury, something as restricting as a back injury, there may be problems. You’d be crazy to think that Wladimir will now just be a push over because of his low performance in the first fight. This guy isn’t a push over.
