Burton played Tony ‘Duke’ Evers, trainer of Apollo Creed and Rocky Balboa in the popular boxing movies Rocky. The cause of death is unknown but it’s been reported that Burton had been visiting the hospital many times for the past year.

Burton’s friend and co-star Carl Weathers put out a tweet saying, “Sad news. RIP Tony Burton. His intensity and talent helped make the Rocky movies successful.”
