Promoter, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport has said that Floyd Mayweather is coming back to face Danny Garcia in Las Vegas on September 17th this year.
“[Garcia] is solid, he beat Amir Khan, he is an elite welterweight. The two fights we really want are Danny Garcia and Adrien Broner. Broner hasn’t necessarily had a stellar career at welterweight but he’s a big name. It’s a fun fight,” Hearn said to Sky Sports.
“Garcia in my opinion will fight Floyd Mayweather next, in September. That could rule him out of the equation, while he is waiting. Broner has indicated they might travel if you bring a huge pot of money with you, which is achievable. Tim Bradley is still a fight which me personally as a fight fan I’d love.”
Floyd Mayweather was speaking to FightHype.com when he said if he was to return to boxing, it’ll only be against one name.
Many rumours have been circulating the net in resent weeks about the possibility of Floyd Mayweather coming back to fight.
One name was mentioned above many, and that was Gennady Golovkin. But, Floyd in his interview with FightHype.com has put that to rest. ….For now..
Floyd said, “I told GGG what he had to do if he wanted a fight with me, he’s got to call out Andre Ward, beat Andre Ward, then I’d fight him, but I haven’t seen him call out Andre Ward yet.”
Gennady Golovkin didn’t choose to follow Floyd Mayweather’s advice and have a chance of fighting him, he picked to fight Wade.
“If I did think about coming back, there’s only one name that I’m looking at, and that’s Danny Garcia. He’s undefeated, he’s a world champion, if I want to fight a guy he’s got to be a world champion.”
