Carl Froch said in his Notthingpost.com column, “Coming home from the Kell Brook v Kevin Bizier fight, news started filtering through about the bleed to the brain that Nick Blackwell suffered after his fight against Chris Eubank Jr.”
“I want to say that my thoughts are with him and his family at this difficult time because he still remains in an induced coma.”
“I sparred hundreds of rounds with Nick when I was fighting and he is a true warrior.”
“He is somebody who has a huge heart and never knows when to quit. I’ve always admired that about him and you speak to anyone who has been in the ring with him or sparred with him and they will tell you exactly the same.”
“What has happened to him is incredibly unfortunate and sad.”
“But there was no surgery and the signs are said to be very promising regarding the recovery which is great to hear.”
Carl went on to explain how fortunately these injuries in boxing are very rare and how hard it is for referees to judge when to stop a fight, especially when fighters are throwing punches back and defending themselves.
Nick Blackwell sustained a brain bleed last Saturday in his title fight with Chris Eubank Jr.
Nick Blackwell has been in the hospital a week today. He is currently in an induced coma that will aid his recovery.
