Bernard Hopkins has come forward and said he will retire this year from boxing.
If ever there was a fighter that is a 100% guaranteed to enter the boxing Hall of Fame, it’s Bernard Hopkins. A man that was re-nicknamed ‘The Alien’ for a reason I can only imagine that is linked to the outstanding level of his athleticism at his age.
Hopkins has been chasing one last big fight, being never afraid of taking on anyone, Bernard was looking for a GGG fight not long ago. “I wanted to face Golovkin, but GGG chose to fight somebody else. I was going to fight him 170lbs.”
“My back is a little tired to keep holding the fort down after 28 years, this year I’m done weather details get together or not, I’m done, I’m completely content.”
Hopkins went on to say, “i’m 90% out but I’m really thinking about the names that I’m going to hear in the next week or two that’s going to be mentioned for me to fight in June.”
51 year old Hopkins has had an almost 30 year career, fighting at middleweight, super middleweight and light heavyweight Hopkins has had more than a successful life in boxing.
