Anthony Joshua will be facing unbeaten USA rising star Charles Martin. The 6ft 5 heavyweight from California is a southpaw, he has a tricky in and out style that so far has been too much for 23 of his 24 opponents. His record is 23 wins with 21 knockouts, no losses and a draw.
Charles Martin had 63 amateur fights and started boxing at the late age of 22. He turned pro in October of 2012. In 2012 he won the National PAL Championship.
Martin faced Vyacheslav Glazkov on January 16, 2016 for the vacant IBF world heavyweight championship title. The 29 year old won by TKO In the 3rd round with Glazkov going down with an injury to his knee and wasn’t able to continue the fight, as a result Martin was crowned the new IBF champion.
Anthony Joshua will be facing the IBF champion on April 9th of this year Eddie Hearn claims. Martin has been calling Joshua out which is a nice position to be in for AJ as not many times do you hear of a would champion calling out a prospect.
