We have just heard that pound for pound boxing star Floyd Mayweather has offered UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor $50 million to fight him in Las Vegas on New Years Eve, according to TMZ.
It’s no surprise that this fight is being treated as just a money maker with both the MMA world and the boxing world saying it’s pointless.
With no belt on the line and being the biggest mismatch since Canelo vs Khan, the fans are writing this event off before it’s even organised.
TMZ has stated that Conor McGregor can’t take the fight with Floyd Mayweather unless he talks with UFC president Dana White and gets his approval. As Conor is contracted with the UFC. However, since this news of a $50 million offer has come about, McGregor has been in a secret meeting with Dana White. Mayweather hasn’t spoken to Dana yet, but it looks like this bizarre fight might become a reality with both sides set to make millions.
Mayweather Jr. has said, this fight will only go ahead if he makes upwards of $100 million, damn!, I guess that’s Mayweather’s way of saying, “I don’t get out of bed for less than 100 million dollars!” Should this fight happen, McGregor will make way over what he has made in the past, in fact, from all his fights put together.
Well, I don’t hear many fans actually saying that they want this fight, all I hear are the people involved, the people set to become even more richer than they already are. But, as most of Mayweather fights go, fans will tune in anyway for this MMA Vs Boxing silly match up.
