Amir Khan is fighting for the WBC middleweight title on May 7th. Should he beat Canelo, it could leave him with a fight with Golovkin.
Golovkin is the middleweight King at the moment making easy work of all his opponents to date. Golovkin has the IBF, IBO, interim WBC and the WBA super world middleweight titles.
When Amir Khan was asked if he would face Golovkin should he beat Canelo… Khan laughed! Then said, “Thats something to think about after the fight, once I beat Canelo, that’s when I sit down with my team and see where we go.”
Khan went on to talk about the catchweight with Canelo, “Look this fight weight being at 155 could be the best weight for me, I’ve never fought at 155, but I’ve always sparred at 155.”
Khan commented on sparring at 155, “I’ve hurt sparring partners, I’ve knocked sparring partners down, my powers always been there with me.”
“I’ve always thought that was my natural weight, naturally this could be the weight for me.” Said Khan talking about fighting at 155lbs.
Coming back to would Amir Khan fight Golovkin should he beat Canelo, he said, “If that fight happens then why not, (with a smile on his face).
